Cordillera Negra

  • Longitud: 180 km.
  • Pico más alto: Rocarre 5180m.
  • Principales Montañas: Cerro Rumicruz (5010m), Cancahua (5012m), Huancapeti (4968m).
  • Pasos más altos: Tres Cruces.
  • Lagunas: Wilcacocha, Antacocha.

Ubicación Geográfica

La cordillera Negra es una cadena de montañas rocosas en el departamento de Áncash, ubicada al oeste de la Cordillera Blanca y del Callejón de Huaylas. Esta formadas geológicamente por rocas de naturaleza volcánica y laderas que lo usan para la agricultura. Sus cumbres son menores a los 5.000m. Que carecen de glaciares.

En la cordillera negra, el Coñocranra (5181 m),  Rocarre  5180m.Cancahua (5102 m), Rumicruz (5020 m.), y Huancapetì (4968m.) son sus principales altitudes.
La Cordillera Negra conjuntamente con la Cordillera Blanca se inicia en conococha (4100m.) y termina en el cañón del pato (1.800m.) y conforman el callejón de Huaylas, por donde discurre el  rio Santa de sur a norte.

La Cueva de Guitarreros, el cual se encuentra en la provincia de Yungay, distrito de shupluy es uno de los vestigios más antiguos e importantes entre 10,950 y 10,230 a.c. considerado como “uno de los grandes testimonios del origen de la agricultura en América” que tiene la Cordillera Negra en los andes del Perú.

Recuay, ticapampa, huanchay, coris, aija, san damian, primorpampa, yautan, shupluy. Cascapara, quillo, Huaylas, santo Toribio, pueblo libre, mato, huata, pamparomas, jimbe y macate.
